Hello people...

1st week of so-called freedom...

Had a nice trip with Uncle Mas' family and friends to Bintan. We stayed in the sembawang villa... its basically at the top of indra mayang resort... so it's top drawer stuff. FANTASTIC for taking photos. Unfortunately, the weather wasnt very kind in terms of providing nice ambient light (it rained)and in the end, i think after post processing, many of my shots will be monochrome shots.. oh well...

Here's one of 'em.

Went for my SMU medical today at OUB Plaza. So i took the opportunity to do some shooting around the river.=) I'm addicted I tell you..

As it turns out, Cali couldnt make it for lunch with Paul and Linc and me, so I had an excuse to shoot summore!!=)

Anyways, here are 2 of the shots. am a bit lazy to post process cos im in the midst of clearing up my room in prep for school!

Ok thats it for now... I'm starting to think that I'm posting these pics for self gratification of seeing my own stuff online.=) not sure if anyone is visiting the photo blog... so if you are, lemme know PLS!

Alternatively, if blogger still hadnt solved my comments problem, email me @ drummercow@gmail.com . OK?

Till Next Time...

Hi all...
Apologies for my slacking the past few days.=)

Anyhows DId some shooting over the weekend and here are the photos which I personally like.=)

First, that day went with the Club Snap people to the Zoo... Yep... pretty much shot my a$$ off. But I like this picture the best among those i shot that day.=)

This is a picture of a prairie dog... There is another one with it just standing there and another one with it eating a nut or something, but i think this is the most dramatic of the shots i took of the prairie dog... It has an enigmatic, mysterious kinda feel to it..=)

Yep the next shot i took when we went for dinner with Uncle Mas, one of my Dad's business associates.=) Inez was pretty much standing there looking out to the sea and i decided to seize the moment and shoot, literally from the hip... somehow some of my nicest shots come out when im notlooking through the viewfinder... maybe that's a bad thing...

But anyways, here't is.

Ok... thats it for today... will try to get more images out.. Bought PP today and the title article is about "Turn your Pictures into Pounds ( the British currency, not the unit of weight.. I have enough pounds already thanks)... So I'm semi inspired.=)

On another note, I realise that not everyone can post their comments... which irks me to no end, because i think i already changed the settings... hmm... will try and rectify the problem.=)

Until next time, Cheers

Hi all...

Got my negatives back from Simon, from Grace Photolab, today. Haha... amazing some of the picts that i havent seen for a long time...

Including this one, that Ryan and I took on the last day of Pre U Sem 2001. 3 long years ago... now I'm really feeling old. The picture was taken in the morning, when there was this ridiculously gloriously bright sun out.=)

Ryan & I being a bit of jokers & slightly more poseurish, decided to pose pose and take a shot.=)But it was so bright that on film it came out all wrong... thankfully now, theres some hope in photoshop.=)

Posers

OK people, its 0130 and I'm still up and need to go back to camp tommorow for my 3rd last working day as a LTA.. haha...

Till Next Time, Cheers

Oops... was looking through the photo blog just now and i realised why there has not been anyone posting comments..=)

Cos the setting were such that only blogger.com members could post.. haha... anyhow, thats been rectified...

so ppl, PLS PLS leave me your comments... No matter how abrasive, I'll try to take them in the best context possible.=)

Hi Everyone...

Another post today.... haha... I realised that while I'm doing pretty well at quantity, the quality of my pictures leaves something to be desired... Sigh...

hah anyhow.. a picture of Paul... He didnt pose for this one. as opposed to another one which he did pose for. He was trying to look contemplative.. but the other one he looks... umm.... constipated.

So... Here's Paul.

A Penny For'T

Yup.. so like Cali said, this is starting to become a bit obsessive.=) BUT it's all in the name of learning... so....

Till next time, Cheers

Trishaws

Quick post... Took this opposite Parco yesterday, the shot was taken without looking through the viewfinder, so im quite pleased with the way the shot came out. Did some cropping and some gan gan contrast to the foreground.

As usual, comments pls... Cheers

Whoah... Today was a VERY fruitful day...

Decided that today was the day that I was going to take the D30 for a test drive... and drive I did...

Mr Smiley in Mono

This one i took at home... Was on the way out of the house and coming down to dining room when i saw the way the light fell on the Mr Smiley in question.. Couldnt resist.. Then used Photoshop and converted it to Mono, with the help of the May 04 issue of Practical Photography. I like PP... its like simple enough for newbies like me, but it pretty in depth and they always talk in terms of Photoshop.=)

After that pretty good start to the day, I went down to Botanics... I tell u, that place is power for taking photos la.. A pity that I couldnt take many of the photo opportunities that were presented. I did, however, take this one. Again, it has been tweaked slightly with photoshop..

Lampooned

After that, met Cali for lunch and went to walk walk Orchard... Millions of things happening down there today. One of which was this Festival thing organised by NEA, NAC & Central CDC...Called Living Art... Will probably still be on tommorow, and I suggest you go check it out... pretty interesting stuff. But I Digress

Anyways, as part of the festival, there was a performance by the Kampong Glam Lion Dance Troupe.. And they didnt use the normal xing shi (the CNY type with the multicoloured head) they used the other type... the orange orange one.. which I prefer actually, though the drums in the orange orange lion dance are slightly less euphonious (does this apply here?) than the colourful colourful lion dance. Again, I digress

Yep... managed to snap some (okay who am i kidding, MANY) photos, including this one, which I again, tweaked with Photoshop. I think next time, unless I say that I didnt tweak with PS, just assume I did ok? Think its an integrity thing.=) If i did I'll say I did. Or in this case, SOP is that I did.

Lion Charmer

Yep... So in addition to all the shooting I did today, I also managed to do a pic for Jacqueline from church. Think she'll be pretty pleased with it... I think I'm relatively pleased with the way it turned out. Pls feel free to comment on this photo too.=)

Yep... So that's it for now, will try and do some more editing and see if I might post again later... Meanwhile though, thanks to Alex & Jianhui, who suggested that i do some stuff with the frames I shot.. As u might have noticed, the extent of my work is currently layering and applying some type of vector mask & blurring/desaturating/changin contrast of either layer. So.. Hopefully I'll be able to learn and read more as time goes by..=)

Till next time, Cheers

Yep...

Another evening of trying to pretend to edit photos with Photoshop...

Agree with Jianhui that its very powerful.. and as he would say it

I LOVE IT!! IT IS HOW POWERFUL OK?

Haha... but otherwise, today was relatively fruitful.. the fruits of the evening's labours are displayed below

Untitled

The reason it's untitled is because I dont think i can find an appropriate name for it yet... and so, until which time I can, it will remain untitled..

A few credits, though

To Rena, Thanks for your painfully honest critiques..*ouch*
To Alex, See you at botanics tommorow.. thanks for the advice, but i also too shack to do
TO Jianhui, HIgher contrast liao... can? haha

Yep... The photo was taken at George & Shuli's Wedding (CONGRATS again!) and while George & Shuli are nice ppl, dont think I'll be posting their photos on the net until I get their permission...Cos it's not v nice la..I already barged in on their wedding with my lens to my face..=)

I leave you with a quote out of AP's Guide to PhotoJournalism

" At some point, your reflexes kick in and you've got to work and you've got to make images. You've got to make the kind of images that have a degree of sensitivity and sense of urgency and sense of compassion"
-David Longstreath

May we all grow to understand what this means... hopefully

Cheers all.

Ok...

Realised that i am not posting any of my backlogged stuff here... but am posting a photo i took using the D30 I'm test driving...

This photo was taken while I was walking around the neighbourhood and saw the convex mirror... which i thought would make for interesting composition.

Distorted

Actually i think there's a social commentary here somewhere... I.e how people of today view the world through a distorted perspective. How things like Material possesions mean the world to us. But like looking at the epitome of luxury, the Merc, through the distorting convex mirror or materialism, all we get is a wrong view of things.=)

Yep.. feeble attempt at justifying the reason i took the pic.. Like I said, i just thought the composition was kinda nice..=) haha
Cheers babes... till next time

Wassup people..

No pictures today...

BUT I've finally managed to find a site that'll allow me to upload more than 1 picture at a time... Haha... That's probably not the hardest thing in the world la, but i slow, so what to do?

But thanks to Jianhui who tried to teach me a lot of things on Photoshop just now, which by now i have slightly forgotten.

Yep... Till we meet again my darlings....haha that sounds a bit gay... its this damn blogging thing... which by the way, i do not totally agree with, cos it seems a bit of a char bor thing to do... hmm...

Truly, i am Undecidedly Decided.

Cheers & in the words of one irritating AI host,

Neil, Out
