Whoah... Today was a VERY fruitful day...

Decided that today was the day that I was going to take the D30 for a test drive... and drive I did...

Mr Smiley in Mono

This one i took at home... Was on the way out of the house and coming down to dining room when i saw the way the light fell on the Mr Smiley in question.. Couldnt resist.. Then used Photoshop and converted it to Mono, with the help of the May 04 issue of Practical Photography. I like PP... its like simple enough for newbies like me, but it pretty in depth and they always talk in terms of Photoshop.=)

After that pretty good start to the day, I went down to Botanics... I tell u, that place is power for taking photos la.. A pity that I couldnt take many of the photo opportunities that were presented. I did, however, take this one. Again, it has been tweaked slightly with photoshop..

Lampooned

After that, met Cali for lunch and went to walk walk Orchard... Millions of things happening down there today. One of which was this Festival thing organised by NEA, NAC & Central CDC...Called Living Art... Will probably still be on tommorow, and I suggest you go check it out... pretty interesting stuff. But I Digress

Anyways, as part of the festival, there was a performance by the Kampong Glam Lion Dance Troupe.. And they didnt use the normal xing shi (the CNY type with the multicoloured head) they used the other type... the orange orange one.. which I prefer actually, though the drums in the orange orange lion dance are slightly less euphonious (does this apply here?) than the colourful colourful lion dance. Again, I digress

Yep... managed to snap some (okay who am i kidding, MANY) photos, including this one, which I again, tweaked with Photoshop. I think next time, unless I say that I didnt tweak with PS, just assume I did ok? Think its an integrity thing.=) If i did I'll say I did. Or in this case, SOP is that I did.

Lion Charmer

Yep... So in addition to all the shooting I did today, I also managed to do a pic for Jacqueline from church. Think she'll be pretty pleased with it... I think I'm relatively pleased with the way it turned out. Pls feel free to comment on this photo too.=)

Yep... So that's it for now, will try and do some more editing and see if I might post again later... Meanwhile though, thanks to Alex & Jianhui, who suggested that i do some stuff with the frames I shot.. As u might have noticed, the extent of my work is currently layering and applying some type of vector mask & blurring/desaturating/changin contrast of either layer. So.. Hopefully I'll be able to learn and read more as time goes by..=)

Till next time, Cheers
